Suratt Detective Bureau — Services

Four disciplines. One standard of proof.

Vigilance Without Compromise

Executive protection, professional surveillance, skip tracing, and insurance fraud verification — each engagement scoped in writing, staffed by licensed investigators, and closed with evidence you can use.

Retained by attorneys, insurers, and corporate stakeholders statewide

The Practice

Casework built to withstand scrutiny.

Every matter the Bureau accepts begins the same way: a defined scope, a written budget, and a reporting cadence agreed with counsel before the first hour is worked. There are no open-ended retainers and no vague deliverables.

The four disciplines below cover the engagements we are retained for most — from protecting a principal in transit to verifying a claim before it is paid. Each is conducted to evidentiary standards, because anything less is not usable.

  • Scope in writingObjectives, methods, and deliverables agreed before work begins.
  • Attorney-ready work productReports, exhibits, and affidavits formatted for counsel's review.
  • Statewide coverageField work across South Carolina, with travel as the case requires.

Executive Protection & Personal Detail

Close protection for executives, principals, and at-risk individuals — planned quietly, executed without friction.

Effective protection is invisible. The Bureau's details are built around advance work — route planning, venue assessment, and contingency coverage — so that a principal's day proceeds normally while the risks around it are managed in the background.

Details are staffed to the threat profile, not to a template. A single-agent low-profile detail and a multi-agent movement team are different instruments; we recommend the right one and say why in writing.

  • Advance & route planningVenue advance, route surveys, and contingency coverage before the principal moves.
  • Secure movement & transportCoordinated ground movement for meetings, travel, and public appearances.
  • Residence & workplace assessmentPhysical security review of the places a principal lives and works.
  • Discreet, low-profile presenceProtection that keeps business moving without drawing attention.

Professional Surveillance

Systematic, documented observation — time-stamped, photographed, and reported to withstand scrutiny.

Surveillance is a records discipline. Every observation is logged with date, time, and location; every significant event is photographed or recorded. The product is not an impression — it is a documented account that survives cross-examination.

Assignments range from short-duration activity checks to extended multi-day operations. Mobile and static coverage are combined as the subject's pattern requires, and the reporting cadence is set with counsel at scoping.

  • Static & mobile coverageFixed positions and vehicle-based follows, combined as the pattern requires.
  • Time-stamped logs & photographyContemporaneous records of every observation, formatted for exhibits.
  • Activity checksShort-duration verification of a subject's activity and whereabouts.
  • Extended operationsMulti-day coverage with scheduled reporting to counsel throughout.

Skip Tracing & Location of Individuals

Locating witnesses, subjects, and persons of interest through disciplined research and verified field work.

A database hit is not a location. The Bureau treats every lead as a hypothesis: records are pulled, cross-referenced, and then verified in the field before an address is reported. What we deliver is a confirmed whereabouts — not a guess with a confidence score.

Engagements cover witnesses needed for deposition, defendants and judgment subjects, heirs and beneficiaries, and individuals who have deliberately gone quiet. All work is conducted within legal process and documented for the case file.

  • Witness location for counselConfirmed addresses and service-ready locates for deposition and trial.
  • Judgment & asset subjectsLocating defendants and judgment debtors for enforcement actions.
  • Heirs & beneficiariesEstate-related locates verified through records and field contact.
  • Field verification, not database guessesEvery reported location is confirmed on the ground before delivery.

Insurance Claims & Fraud Verification

Independent verification of claims through scene work, interviews, and surveillance — findings formatted for adjusters, counsel, and court.

Verification is about facts, not advocacy. The Bureau documents what occurred and what can be proven, whether that supports or contradicts the claim as filed. Adjusters and counsel receive findings they can act on, in a format built for the file.

Engagements span injury and disability claims, property and casualty losses, and staged-accident indicators. Scene documentation, recorded interviews, and targeted surveillance are combined as the claim requires.

  • Scene documentationPhotographs, measurements, and conditions recorded at loss scenes.
  • Recorded interviewsWitness, claimant, and employee interviews conducted and documented properly.
  • Claimant activity surveillanceTargeted observation where claimed activity and actual activity diverge.
  • Adjuster & court formattingFindings prepared for the claims file and, where needed, for testimony.
